Our Attorneys & TAF

Mark Kleiman and Steve Cohen are pioneering members of Taxpayers Against Fraud ("TAF"), the Washington, D.C. based qui tam bar. Both are regular moderators and panelists at annual TAF Education Fund Conferences in the nation's capitol and were active in organizing those conferences during the past three years.

In 2006, Cohen organized and moderated a distinguished panel to address "What Hath the FCA Wrought?" to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the revitalizing amendments to the False Claims Act in 1986.

Kleiman serves on TAF's National Advisory Board and helped develop TAF's 1-2% Campaign, in which law firms contribute 1-2% of recoveries of relator's awards to TAF to sustain the non-profit organization's work.

Cohen, too, serves to TAF's Advisory Board and also as Chairperson of the Attorney Resources and Practices Standing Sub-Committee, which is helping to develop ways to support attorneys as they take on complex and long-term qui tam whistleblower cases.

Both Cohen and Kleiman have contributed articles to TAF's Quarterly Review, a journal of developments in false claims law. Kleiman also regularly contributes online to questions posted by attorneys across the country on TAF's private listserve. Cohen and Kleiman also volunteer for TAF's Mentoring Program, launched this year, which is designed to develop the complex-case skills needed by the next generation of FCA attorneys to effectively investigate and advance qui tam whistleblower matters in state and federal venues.
